FAQs

Why is the CSV file garbled after Excel to CSV conversion?
Microsoft Excel defaults to requiring a BOM (Byte Order Mark) for UTF-8 CSV files. During conversion, please select the "UTF-8 with BOM" option to ensure Chinese characters display correctly in Excel.
Does it support .msg or .numbers formats?
Currently, we support standard .xlsx (Excel 2007+), .xls (Excel 97-2003), and .csv text files. For Apple Numbers files, please export them as Excel format first before using this tool.
Is there a file size limit?
Since processing happens locally, our optimized algorithm typically supports files up to 50MB. Very large files might cause the browser to slow down; we recommend splitting them if possible.
Will formulas be lost after conversion?
Yes. CSV (Comma Separated Values) is a plain text format that only stores data. It does not contain formulas, formatting, or styling. Only the calculated values will be preserved.
What if date formats change after conversion?
Excel stores dates as numbers internally. This tool attempts to restore their displayed format, but if you see numbers like 43101, those are raw timestamps. We suggest setting Excel cells to Text format before conversion.
What is GBK encoding?
GBK is a character encoding used primarily for Simplified Chinese environments. Many older systems export CSV files in GBK. If you see garbled text, selecting GBK encoding should resolve it.
Is this tool completely free?
Yes, this tool is entirely free, no limits on usage, and no registration required.
Is there a row limit for CSV to Excel?
Excel 2007 and later versions (.xlsx) support up to 1,048,576 rows per sheet. If your CSV exceeds this, Excel will not be able to display all data. We recommend using our "CSV Splitter" first.
